Print a label from the shipment page, print it again later, and fix the most common printing problems.
Print the label
- Open the shipment. After Create Shipment you are already on its page. Later, find it under Operations, History.
- Choose Print label beside the title. The browser's print dialog opens on the same page.
- Print to your label printer.
- Several packages: there is one label per package. Print all 3 labels (with your number of packages) prints them all. Each row of the Packages card also has its own Print and View.
- If the browser will not print from the page, the label opens in a new tab to print from there. If that is blocked too, a note offers Open the label and Download it.
- ZPL labels: if your location's label format is ZPL, the page offers Download ZPL file instead of Print label.
- Voided labels can still be viewed but are not offered for printing.
View label, under More actions, opens the label in a new tab to look at it.
Print a label again
The question is asked for each label, from its second print on. The first print never asks anything. After that, Print label asks why:
- Printer problem
- Label damaged
- Lost the first print
- Other, with a few words of your own, up to 120 characters
Choose a reason, then Print again. Your administrator can turn this question off. Every print is recorded either way, with who printed it and when: the Label card shows how many times it was printed, and Status History lists each print.
Print automatically as soon as the label is bought
Open the My Account menu, choose Preferences, and under printing set Print the label as soon as it's bought:
- Follow my location (currently on) or (currently off): use your location's setting.
- On: the shipment page starts printing the label once, right after you buy it.
- Off: you choose Print label yourself.
Preferences and its printing options are not available at a shared station.
Common printing problems
| What happens | What to do |
|---|---|
| Nothing prints by itself after Create Shipment | Check Print the label as soon as it's bought in Preferences. A ZPL label is always a download. A shipment waiting for approval has no label yet. |
| The label prints tiny, in a corner, or on letter paper | Ask your administrator to set your location's label size to 4x6 label. Print once by hand at actual size, not fit to page. |
| The label prints blank, is cut off or splits across two labels | Check that the labels are loaded the right way up and that the paper size in the browser's print settings is 4 x 6. If it still happens, ask whoever looks after the printer. |
| The label goes to the wrong printer | Set your label printer as the default printer on that computer. |
| The label downloads instead of printing | Your browser is set to download PDF files. Turn PDF viewing back on in the browser's settings, or ask your administrator whether the label format is ZPL. |
