Quick Ship sends one package to one recipient: find or type the address, choose the service by its arrival date, create the shipment and print the label.

Before you start: the pickup line

Beside the page title, a short line says where your location stands with the carrier today, for example the next and last pickup times, or that a pickup will be scheduled once a label is bought. You do not need to do anything with it. It tells you whether the package goes out today.

Create the shipment

  1. Open the Ship menu and choose Quick Ship, or choose Quick Ship on the Dashboard.
  2. Choose where it ships from. If you can ship from more than one place, choose it under Ship from. Change switches it later. If you ship from one place only, this step is skipped.
  3. Find the recipient. Start typing in Recipient from your address books. It searches your address books by name, company, street, city, state and ZIP. Choose a match and the address fills in.
  4. Or type a new recipient. Fill in Recipient name, Company and Address. Type the ZIP first: the City and State fill in from it. For another country, choose the Country first. For Canada the field says Postal code. Type the recipient's email in Notify email if they should hear about the shipment. Tick Save recipient for future shipments to add the address to a book.
  5. Describe the package. Choose the Carrier and the Package, then type the Weight (lb). If the package is your own box, also type the length, width and height. At a station with a USB scale, put the package on the scale or choose Read scale.
  6. Choose the service by its arrival. The Service list is sorted by when the package arrives, soonest first. Each row shows the arrival date, the price if your role shows prices, and the service name. Choose the row with the day you need.
  7. Add a reference if your organization uses one, such as a ticket or purchase order number. Some references are filled in for you.
  8. Set the options if you need them: On delivery for a signature, Include a return label, Contents and a note. With a note, you can tick Ask a manager to look at this. See the sections below.
  9. Choose Create Shipment.

You land on the new shipment's page, with the tracking number at the top. Choose Print label to print it. If printing as soon as a label is bought is turned on for you, the label starts printing by itself.

If the shipment needs approval, no label is created yet. The shipment waits for an approver, and you print the label after it is approved. See Shipments that need approval.

Signature on delivery

On delivery appears only when the chosen service can collect a signature. Choose one of:

  • No signature: the carrier may leave the package without a signature.
  • Signature required: someone at the address signs for it.
  • Adult signature required (21+): an adult aged 21 or over signs and may be asked for identification.

Your administrator can require a signature for a package type or a location. Then No signature is not offered, and a line under the choice says who requires it. If the service you chose cannot collect a required signature, a red sentence explains which services can, and Create Shipment waits until you choose one of them. Nothing is created or billed while it waits.

Return label

Turn on Include a return label to create a prepaid return label that travels in the box. Return travels on appears under the switch and starts on the cheapest ground service for the way back. Some package types always include a return label, and the switch is already on. See Create a return label and check that it came back.

Contents

Describe what is in the box under Contents. If your organization keeps a content catalog, common items appear as one-click choices. Anything else can be typed, one item per line.

Contents are what customs reads on an international shipment. For an international shipment, pick every item from the content catalog. Typed lines are refused, because they carry no customs value. Shipments to US territories (Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa and Northern Mariana Islands) also need Customs, and Canada needs a commercial invoice.
