Save the addresses you ship to, share them with your location or organization, mark homes as residential, build groups for Bulk Ship and import a spreadsheet.

Open the Operations menu and choose Address Book.

The books

One screen covers several books, and a search looks in all of them at once. A chip on each card says which book it is in: Mine, My followed by your site or region, Company-wide, or Our locations (your organization's own locations).

  • Your personal book: your own contacts. Nobody else sees them.
  • Your location's book: shared by everyone at that location.
  • Books for larger parts of your organization: shared by a group of locations.
  • The organization's book: everyone in the organization can use it.

Anyone can add to a shared book. Removing an entry from a shared book is a manager action. Personal entries are yours alone.

Add an address

  1. Choose New Address.
  2. Under Add to, choose which book it belongs in, and choose its Kind.
  3. Fill in the company or contact, the street, city, state and ZIP, and a phone number and email if you have them.
  4. Tick Residential address if the address is a home.
  5. In your personal book, tick Private to keep the entry to yourself. A private entry does not transfer with your book.
  6. Save.

Organizations that turn on privacy protection for sensitive shipments also see a box that marks the address as protected. See how privacy protection works.

You can also save a recipient while shipping: tick Save recipient for future shipments on Quick Ship.

Why Residential matters

Carriers charge more to deliver to a home than to a business, whether or not you tell them. Ticking Residential address for a home means the rate you are quoted is the rate you are billed.

Address chips

  • as typed: stored exactly as typed, without the carrier confirming it.
  • unrecognized: the carrier did not recognize the address.

Neither chip stops you shipping. They tell you which addresses are worth a second look.

Groups

A group is a named set of recipients you can ship to in one step with Bulk Ship. Choose Groups at the top of the Address Book to create and manage them.

Import a spreadsheet

Choose Import to load a spreadsheet of addresses into a book. It opens Imports, and anyone who is not read only can use it. Exports from UPS CampusShip and WorldShip are recognized as they are. You see a preview before anything loads, problem rows are skipped and listed, and importing the same file again is safe. Import is on a computer only, not on a phone.

Work from a card

Each card has a Ship to this button, which starts a shipment to that address. Notes and Remove are in the card's More menu. Remove shows only for people allowed to remove the entry. If your organization gives its locations codes, type a code in the search to find that location quickly.
